Swatches | Makeup geek Ultimate Palette Swatches

Hi everyone!

Last week my Makeupgeek Ultimate Palette came in the mail. I have been using the shadows all week and recently used them for my Halloween looks.

I already have a post on my first Makeupgeek shadows purchase that you can read here.
Since that haul I have purchased some more shadows and blushes and most recently this palette.
Makeupgeek shadows are hands down the best eye-shadows I have ever used,. Their texture, pigmentation, colour range, price, shipping and customer service is on point!

You can currently purchase the Ultimate Palette here.
This palette is regularly out of stock but you can sign up for a notification email for when it is back in stock.

This palette comes with 27 eye-shadows and a custom Z-Palette.
The Ultimate Palette retails for $159.99 USD which is currently $181.83 AUD plus shipping.
The cheapest shipping to Metro Victoria without a tracking number was $18.27 AUD but it can vary. You are able to calculate a quote before you checkout.

Shipping for me took about four weeks, but I did get an email from Makeupgeek saying it would take a while longer as they had a back log from recently restocking popular products.
Receiving email updates and information via their social media is one of the great parts of their customer service.
My order came packaged very securely and my products are always in perfect condition.

So now on to the pretty swatches!!!

First row: Shimma shimma, Beaches & Cream, Glamorous, Gold Digger, Chickadee, Coco Bear
Second row: Cosmopolitan, Simply Marlena, Mango Tango, Cupcake, Bitten, Country Girl, Homecoming
Third row: Bada Bing, Drama Queen, Sensuous, Unexpected, Moondust, Prom Night, Graphite
Fourth row: Corrupt, Envy, Appletini, Pixie Dust, Mermaid, Poolside, Peacock

First row swatched: (L-R) Shimma shimma, Beaches & Cream, Glamorous, Gold Digger, Chickadee and Coco Bear

Second row swatched: (L-R) Cosmopolitan, Simply Marlena, Mango Tango, Cupcake, Bitten, Country Girl and Homecoming

Third row swatched: (R-L) Bada Bing (not the best swatch), Drama Queen, Sensuous, Unexpected, Moondust, Prom Night and Graphite

Fourth row swtached: (L-R) Corrupt, Envy, Appletini, Pixie Dust, Mermaid, Poolside and Peacock

Overall is it worth the money? If you are an avid makeup addict like me or would love to invest in good quality shadows with a range of colours and textures I would say yes. It a pricey investment but a good one. If you wear eye shadow occasionally and sway more to neutral tones I would recommend checking out there website a creating your own smaller palette by picking out some single shadows yourself.

I have used every shadow out of this palette and I love every single one of them, but my favourites right now would have to be Shimma shimma, Chickadee, Bitten, Coco bear, Envy and Poolside.
I am happy to do a blogpost of my Makeupgeek cosmetic collection, top favourites or recommendations if any of you are interested.

Thanks so much for reading.

Unboxing | Bella Box September 2014

Hi everyone!

Todays unboxing is my September 2014 Bella Box.

If you don't know what Bella Box is, it's a monthly subscription beauty box where you get five + beauty and lifestyle samples for $15.00 AU a month or $165.00 AU for a whole year subscription. You can then purchase the full size products on their website store if you wish.
Click here to check out Bella Box.

This months theme was Springcleaning your beauty wardrobe with Gritty Pretty + Bella Box

What was in my box this month.

Wot Not Facial Wipes
I have so many facial wipes from all of my beauty subscription boxes. I dont use makeup wipes anymore as I love my Garnier Molcular Cleansing Water and will never go back. These are super wet and non soapy and made for oily/sensitive skin, RRP $7.99

Cedel Scented Hairspray
This is one of  Cedel's new scented hairsprays. The coconut one smells delicious. I haven't used this one yet but I am sure it will come in handy. RRP $4.99 AU

Klorane Quinine and Vitimin B Shampoo
This is a brand i have never heard of, which is always fun to try out. This shampoo claims to have quinine which stimulates hair growth for thick full bodied hair and B6 to stimulate follicles and enhance blood micro-circulation. Im really excited to try this as im always wanting longer healthier hair! RRP $10.95 Available at Priceline

Bioderma Sensibo H2O
This is the expensive original of my favourite Garnier Molcular cleansing water, It removes makeup and cleanses without leaving an oily residue. I wouldn't purchase the full size of this as my Garnier one does the job for the same price but this little mini Bioderma comes in handy for travelling. 250ml RRP $29.95 AU but prices do range depending where you purchase from. Garnier cleanser I always see on sale at either Priceline or Chemist Warehouse for $9.95AU.

Sleek Makeup Eye Dust
I received the colour 680 Dust. You can use this pigment dry our wet your brush and foil the product. I sprayed my brush with fix + and applied this pigment wet, it was a little bit chunky but I ended up being able to smooth that out. Very happy with this product, this is available from Bella Box online store.

Bonus Products!
Sample sachets; Garnier Purfect Blur & Revlon Colorstay Normal/Dry Skin
I wasn't very excited about these, I already own the blur base and I have Revlon Colorstay as its been out for years. Not only is this sample way to dark, my skin is oily/combination so this not normal/dry formula doesn't work for my skin.
I see Garnier's Perfect Blur RRP $16.95AU  on sale all the time at Chemist Warehouse and Priceline, Revlon Colorstay is available at Kmart, Target, Myer, Chemist Warehouse, Priceline and other Chemists. I always look around for sales when repurchasing Revlon Colorstay as it is RRP $34.95 AU.

Thanks so much for readying!

Makeup Haul | IMATS Sydney

Hi everyone!

Oh my god, its been a while since I posted. I feel like I'm always saying that haha, I'm sorry! Its so hard to keep up regular posts when working full time but I promise I'm trying.

Anyway, IMATS. My wallet endured some damage, but it was so worth it!
This year was my first year attending IMATS, Tash and I are from Melbourne if you didn't already know and we flew up to Sydney for the weekend to attend the International Makeup Artist Tradeshow which was held in Moore Park.

I absolutely loved my experience! I spent so much time shopping, trying to get everything I wanted and visiting all the booths that I forgot to take pictures of all the demos. I wish I could of made it to some of the seminars. Next time I attend IMATS I think I'll be less focused on all the shopping, but since I was an IMATS newbie hopefully you can forgive me for the lack of photos!

Here is what I purchased from each booth at IMATS and some extra things I picked up in Sydney!

MAC Cosmetics

  • Mineralise Skinfish in Lightscapade
  • Lipliner in Dervish
  • Lipstick in Media
  • Painterly Paintpot
  • Pro Longwear Concealer in NW15
  • Prep + Prime Fix +

Mac Mineralise Skinfinish in Lightscapade
I love this skinfinish as a highlighter. It was between this and the popular Soft and Gentle. I thought this would go beautiful for my pale skin but I think I will also pick up Soft and Gentle soon.

MAC Lip liner in Dervish
Like every beauty girl in this world, I wanted to get my hands on Whirl but like that was going to happen! I asked one of the girls at the MAC booth what was similar to overdraw my lips and she suggested Dervish, its pretty much the exact same colour as my lips so it looks very natural.

MAC Lipstick in Media
I am in love with any dark vampy lipstick, and even though its Spring here in Melbourne, I still had to pick up Media as it has been on my list forever. This is a beautiful brown, burgandy, vampy shade. Perfect for you girls who are about to enter the Autumn months.

Mac Paint Pot in Painterly
Tash picked up Soft Ochre and I got Painterly, so we can share both shades. They are both neutral colours, although Soft Ochre is more yellow toned which does suit my skin tone better than Painterly.

MAC Pro Longwear concealer in NW15
The best under eye concealer that I have found creases the least and stays on forever! I picked up a lighter shade for when I want to go more highlighted under the eyes.

MAC Prep + Prime Fix +
I have done a review on this, you can check it out here.
I have heard the new packaged bottles contain a new formula and some people don't like it. I am hoping I don't see too much difference but I will keep you posted. I am still seeing both the old and new packaging across Sydney and Melbourne stores, although online I can only see the new one.

Redefining Beauty Booth -Sigma

What I purchased:
  • Sigmax Kabuki Kit
  • Sigma 2x Spa Brush Cleaning Glove
  • E40 Tapered Blending Eye Brush

Sigmax Kabuki Kit
I wanted the F80 Flat top kabuki and the F86 Tapered Kabuki for a while now so for some reason I got the whole kit? Don't ask me how my mind works, I need it all okay?! Haha

Sigma 2x Spa Brush Cleaning Glove
For a whopping $42 I wouldn't recommend someone with only a few brushes to get this, its not worth it! I own way more brushes than I need (makeup addict!) so washing them all leaves my hands looking all gross and irritated because of my eczema so hopefully this glove solves that problem. I have not used it yet so I'm unsure of how well it will wash my brushes. There is tons of videos of this on YouTube if you want to know more about this glove. There is also way cheaper alternatives on ebay.

Lime Crime

  • Black Velvet Valvetine
  • Wicked Valvetine
  • Opaque Lipstick in Serpentina (6th Anniversary packaging)

Velvetines in Wicked and Black Velvet
I already own Salem Velvetine, I love that the dark liquid lipsticks dry matte and don't budge. They also have a bunch of bright colours in their Velvetines and other lipsticks.

Opaque Lipstick in Serpentina
I have been eyeing off this shade for a while now, I'm not one to worry about how crazy my lip colours are so I will probably wear this everywhere, it so pretty and looks very similar on the lips as it does in the tube, although you do need to build it up to get the opaque colour.

Eve Pearl
I was excited by my Eve Pear purchases but when opened them it looks like the sales assistant gave me used testers. I was most excited about the powderless powder that claims to smooth texture, mattify, absorb oil, blur pores and even out skintone. The sales assistant at the booth said it can be used under or over makeup and is great for photoshoots. I will have to sanitise them before even thinking of using them.

  • Eve Pearl Dual Salmon Concealr in Fair/Light
  • Eve Pearl Invisible Finish Powderless Powder

Makeup Forever

I picked up the 5 Camourflage Cream Palette. There seems to be a bit of oily residue around the end colours which makes me hesitant to use them, but I've heard some amazing things about this pallet.

Hakuhodo

Itabake Brush

Inglot

I purchased three eyeshadows and a blush in a pallet. If I could go back I would probably just get a huge eyeshadow pallet as I know my Inglot collection will soon grow.

Crown Brush

I actually didn't purcase any brushes from Crown Brush as the crowds were insane, but I got a concealer palette and some disposable mascara wands.

Model Rock
While I was waiting at the booth for my sigma brushes some girls told me model rock had red cherry lashes for $1, by the time I got there they were all sold out but I picked up some Model Rock lashes, Duo Glue and another Beautyblender for my collection.

Designer Makeup Tools
I purchased some cheap brushes and a Beauty Pod from this booth, im interested to see how the Beauty Pod compares to the Beauty Blender.

On our last day in Sydney we went shopping George Street and I picked up some extra little things (because I sooo need it)

NARS Albatross
I have been obsessed with highlighters lately and I just had to pick this one up from the Mecca in Sydney. This is the only photo i could get that kind of shows the colour. Its a beautiful yellow toned colour. A.MAZE.ING!

  • Real techniques blush brush
  • Australias Velour Lips in Milano
  • Australia Brow Tint; the middl shade
  • Australia Lip Liner in Miss behave (this is what i wore on my lips to IMATS)

Some things that I wish I picked up but forgot;
  • Z Pallet
  • Shanghi Suzie Lipsticks
  • Makeup For Ever Flash Color Palette
  • Ben Nye Powders
  • Makeup For Ever HD Foundation
And that's my IMATS/Sydney Haul!
Thanks so much for staying to end and reading all of that!

Makeupgeek haul & swatches

Hi everyone!

I'm so happy to be blogging again. I haven't posted anything in two weeks because my laptop broke.
I thought I would show you pictures and swatches of the eyeshadows and blush I purchased from Makeupgeek.

What Marlena and Makeupgeek cosmetics say about their eyeshadows and blushes: 'fade proof formular promises long lasting colour as the rich pigmentation offers a build able custom shade'

These blushes and eyeshadows are highly pigmented, half the price of high end blushes and eyeshadows and are cruelty, talc and paraben free.

Coco Bear
This is one if my favourite eyeshadows. It's so pretty anyway you wear it. I posted a photo on our Instagram of this on my lid blended up into the crease. Cocobear is also a great shadow to buff out on the lower lid or deepening up the crease area.

Corrupt
This is a beautifully pigmented black eyeshadow with a hint of shimmer. I have never used a black that is so opaque, defiantly a must have staple shadow for anyone's collection.

Latte
This is a beautiful matte medium brown shade. It blends amazingly, does a good job at darkening up the crease and is great as a transition colour for darker skintones.

Purely Naked
This shadow is a shimmery tan colour and is great as wash of colour on the lid. If you're finding it hard to blend out other shadows, buffing Purely Naked in with a fluffy brush can help your shadows blend easier.

Peach Smoothie
Peach smoothis a matte peach shade. This eyeshadow works well for blending out harsh lines on darker and tanned skintones. If your pale like me, use a light hand when working with this shadow so it doesn't look orangey.

Beaches and Cream
This eyeshadow is a natural light beige with just a hit of peach. A lot lighter than peach smoothie. It has a matte formular and I love it for a natural lid colour or blending out my crease colour onto te brow bone.

First Love Blush

First Love is a shimmery ballerina pink. This blush is beautiful for pale skintones. The formular is so smooth and blendable, I'm defiantly purchasing more of these blushes.

Here are some swatches:
